The Saddleback women's cross country team had its best finish of the season on Friday when it finished third at the Brubaker Invitational in Irvine. The Gauchos started only five harriers and finished first among Orange Empire Conference programs.
Freshman Angel Vallier led the way for Saddleback, finishing sixth out of a field of 73. Her time of 20:22.3 on the 5k-course was just 7.5 seconds out of second place. Vallier finished third among freshmen in the race on a day when Santa Ana athlete Toni Lopez ran away with medalist honors.
Saddleback will run again at the Mt. San Antonio College Invitational on Friday at 10:00 AM.
