Gauchos sweep up Hawks

The Saddleback women's volleyball their won their Orange Empire Conference home-opener with a 3-0 win against Santiago Canyon College on Wednesday night inside the gymnasium.  The Gauchos started slowly but finished strong in going to 6-4 on the season.

Saddleback had a slow start, falling behind Santiago Canyon in the opening set.  They finished strong and won the game 25-21.  From that point forward the Gauchos rolled, winning set two 25-10 and finishing off the Hawks with a 25-18 win in set three.  At one point during the final set they won eight straight points in breezing past the winless Hawks.

Ronnie Robinson (pictured) led Saddleback with 11 kills and nine digs for the match.  Ellie Groh was also busy, finishing with a match-high 30 assists.

Saddleback is now 6-4 overall and 1-1 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Gauchos will play again on Friday when they travel to Cypress College to take on the No. 12 ranked team in the state.  Saddleback and Cypress are scheduled to start at 6:00 PM on Friday.
