The Saddleback women's tennis team had four athletes qualify for the CCCAA State Championships in Ojai later this month. The Gauchos will send two singles players and two doubles teams to the state finals.
Saddleback finished up the Orange Empire Conference Tournament with a handful of solid performances, propelling a foursome of individuals into the biggest stage in Ojai. The doubles teams of Kaitlyn Avilez / Siena Rosnagle and Britney Donine / Sydney Page qualified while both Avilez and Rosnagle also qualified in singles play.
Avilez made it the furthest at the OEC Championships when she made it all the way to the semifinals before falling to Fullerton's Yu Seung Suh. She opened with a bye before beating Fullerton's Kim Lu in the round of 16, 7-5, 6-0. Avilez then beat Riverside's Heather Graf, 7-5, 6-4 in the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.
The California Community College Athletic Association State Tournament takes place in Ojai, California, on April 24-28.
