Gauchos end OEC play on high note

The Saddleback women's tennis team finished Orange Empire Conference play with a 6-3 win over Fullerton College on Tuesday on the Saddleback Courts.  The Gauchos will await playoff announcements, which happen this week.

Saddleback finished the season in a tie for third place in OEC play, which may or may not be enough to qualify for the eight-team playoffs that start next week.  The Gauchos are tied with Riverside City College for third, a program they finished 1-1 against during the season and defeated 10-8 in total games.

Saddleback took care of business on Tuesday, taking a 4-2 lead into doubles action.  Dominique Willette led off with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles while Kristina Parks was busy recording a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.  Joanna Colin made quick work at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win before Chloe Fahimian turned in a dominating performance with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.  Willette, Parks and Fahimian would all win twice on the day as the Gauchos were victorious in two of three doubles matches later in the afternoon.

Saddleback finishes the regular season at 10-6 overall and 6-4 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Gauchos will play in the Orange Empire Conference Tournament on April 13-15 at Irvine Valley.  They still hold out hope of a playoff spot for the opening round of the Southern California Regional Tournament on Tuesday, April 11.
