The Saddleback men's cross country team had another top-20 finish at the state finals this fall, which was the sixth straight year. Ronen Skarsten was named to the all-conference team following the season.
Skarsten had a solid season for the Gauchos, finishing 31st overall at the state finals in Fresno last month. It was a tremendous effort after finishing 24th in Southern California two weeks earlier. The highlight for Skarsten may have been a top-10 finish at the Orange Empire Conference Finals when he finished eighth overall. His best finish of the season was second at the Tour de Cuesta in October.
Skarsten finished in 71st place last year at the state finals in Fresno. He came across the finish line 45 seconds earlier this season on the same trek to improve 40 spots.
Saddleback finished 20th at the state meet, which was the sixth straight season in the top-20 for sixth-year coach Matt Sherman.
