Former Gaucho still running wild

The Saddleback cross country program was pleased to find out this week that former Gaucho Ulysses Orozco was still doing his thing at the next level.  Orozco led Missouri Valley College to its best finish ever this past weekend in men's cross country.

Orozco set all the standards at Saddleback, winning races in both cross country and track & field for the Gauchos in 2015-16.  He finished second in the state in the CCCAA cross country finals in 2015, winning the Orange Empire Conference championship.  Orozco then went on to win the OEC male track athlete-of-the-year by winning the 10,000 meters and finishing second in the state finals.

Orozco continued his run at Missouri Valley College this fall, leading the Vikings to an 11th place finish at the NAIA Cross Country National Finals in Iowa.  He finished 18th overall at the national finals, running the 8k race in 25:01.  Missouri Valley won the Heart of America Conference title this fall.  It was just the third time ever that the program has won the conference title.

Orozco plans to run track for the Vikings in the spring.
