Gauchos clean up loose ends with Fullerton

The Saddleback men's tennis team was back on the courts on Monday at Fullerton College, completing a match that started six days ago but was cut short due to rain.  The Gauchos finished off the Hornets, 7-2, to remain in third place.

Saddleback has a busy week with a huge match with Cypress on tap for Tuesday.  They opted to show off depth and cut matches short in order to get ready for Tuesday, knowing the match on Monday was well in hand.

Riku Goto retired after one set at No. 1 singles, but then teamed with Jeffrey Gelman for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.  Gelman had defeated Sean McCormack 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles earlier in the day.

The final three singles matches were won with ease, as Andrew Tran, Michael Park and Ryan Fabre lost just two games combined.  Fabre was arguably the most impressive, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles over Chris Enciso.

Saddleback then received a great performance from David Gustafson and Chad Henry at No. 3 doubes as the duo swept past McCormack and Spencer Crellin, 8-0.

Saddleback is now one game back of Cypress in the Orange Empire Conference standings heading into today's match with the Chargers.  The two teams will battle at 2:00 PM on Tuesday on the Saddleback Courts.
