Men finish fourth at conference championship

The Saddleback men's swim team placed fourth at the 2015 Orange Empire Conference swimming and diving championships hosted by the Gauchos this past weekend.  Saddleback scored 354 points to edge past Fullerton College (348) for the fourth slot.

The Gauchos' top finisher in the meet was Kord Boniadi who placed third in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.19) while teammate Paul Leyva finished sixth in the same event (2:06.27).  Thomas Anthony placed fifth in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:26.78 and went on to place sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle event (17:28.38).  Leyva placed eighth in the distance freestyle (18:06.27).

Rounding out the top placefinishers for the Gauchos was Lucas Deloye who finished sixth in an extremely competitive field of 100-yard freestyle swimmers with his time of 47.29 seconds.

Golden West captured the conference title, with Orange Coast finishing second and Riverside coming in third. 

The state championship meet qualifiers have not yet been announced.  The state meet is scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, April 30-May2, at the East Los Angeles College indoor aquatics complex.
