The Saddleback men's golf team finished in fourth place on Wednesday at the third Orange Empire Conference match of the season at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa Margarita. Jackson Blogg led the Gauchos.
Saddleback hosted some of the top programs in the state this week at Tijeras Creek as the OEC got together for its third match of the spring on the 7,003-yard, par-72 layout. The Gauchos were trialing Cypress College by one game for third place entering the match but ran into a buzz-saw as the Chargers shot the lights out to win the event.
Saddleback was led by Jackson Blogg, who fired a 2-over-par round of 74. It was Blogg's best round of the year, which moved him into a tie for 20th in the individual conference standings. He was followed closely by Chris Reck and Kirk Edmondson, who both shot rounds of 77.
Cypress ran away with the event, easily shooting their best round of the year with a team total of 361 (1-over-par). Charger Matt Rafter led the field with a round of 3-under-par 69 to claim medalist honors.
Saddleback will be back on the links on Monday, March 27 at Victoria Golf Course in Riverside.
