The Saddleback football team is back in the news this week as another one of the Gauchos has been recognized by the Southern California Football Association.  Linebacker Brad Toepfer became the ninth Gaucho this season to earn player-of-the-week honors.

Toepfer was named the Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the National Division Southern League for this week.  Although Saddleback came out on the losing end of a tough battle with the top-ranked team in the state, Toepfer was a beast on defense.  The freshman from Lincoln-Way East High School in Illinois finished with a team-high nine tackles against Fullerton on Saturday.

Since starting to play in week two, Toepfer has moved up the charts in tackles and now sits at No. 7 on the team in total tackles.  He has registered 27 tackles, three tackles-for-loss and one sack in 5.5 games.

Saddleback will try to get back on track this Saturday when they host Grossmont College at the stadium.  For those that cannot make it to the game, you can watch it on the Gaucho Sports Network starting at 6:00 PM.
