The Saddleback athletics department celebrated its 16th annual fundraising golf tournament on Thursday at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, California. Over 100 players participated in the event as well as another 25 helper/volunteers in an attempt to raise money for Gaucho athletics.
Saddleback just completed its 50th season of intercollegiate athletics, which brought back a number of athletes from decades gone by as well as coaches, administrators and fans of the program. The event featured an 18-hole scramble tournament with three separate flights as well as tee prizes, dinner, pre-golf snacks, raffle prizes, a silent auction and a putting contest monitored by the Saddleback Cheer Team.
One team used the rules to their advantage more than all the rest as the foursome of Brad McReynolds, Steve Abdo, Dan Cannon and Keith Lezatte shot an 18-under-par round of 54 to win the first flight on the par 72 layout. The second flight winner was the foursome of Bob Bosanko, Bill Whipple, Rob Sears and Steve West, who carded a round of 61. The third flight was won in a card-off as the team of Jess Perez, BJ McNicol, Sean Melendez and Daniel Pask finished with a 6-under-par round of 66. Other events on the course included a longest drive contest and closet to the pin on all four, par-3s.
Thanks again to all of you that participated in this year's event.
