The Saddleback athletics department is in the process of getting some upgrades during the summer, with the gymnasium and baseball field in the middle of a huge facelift. The construction of a new (all-purpose) stadium will also begin after the completion of the 2017 football season.
Saddleback enters its 50th season of competition in August and, for a number of the programs, facility upgrades have been scheduled for quite some time. Those upgrades are happening now! The gymnasium is in the middle of getting a bevy of changes, with new seating, new scoreboards, new shot clocks, remodeled bathrooms, and improved access to the gym foyer taking place this summer in addition to the usual floor refinishing. In addition, the baseball stadium is getting new seating, a new press box, some field leveling, and a number of other upgrades in order to be ready for the 2018 campaign.
In addition to the two current jobs being completed, the campus stadium will be closed at the completion of the 2017 football season and the college will break ground on a new venue which will house state-of-the-art football, soccer, and track and field venues. Current plans have the stadium completion date penciled in for early 2019, in time for the 2019 football season. During the stadium construction, some athletic teams will use off-campus sites.
